How do I apply for the LAT exam?

Fill out the application (www.aalas.org/pdf/Tech_Cert_Appl.pdf) and fax or mail it to the AALAS office with the proper fees and documentation.

How much does the LAT exams cost?

The LAT exam fees are: $210 for AALAS members and $210 + $75 processing fee = $285 for non-members.

How do I schedule my LAT certification exam?

Computer exam: You may contact Prometric by calling 800-479-6376 or visit www.2test.com after you have received your Authorization to Test Letter. You may schedule available dates within the start date and end date (90 days) on your Authorization to Test Letter.

Pencil-and-Paper exam: The pencil-and-paper exam is offered annually during the AALAS National Meeting. Applications must be received by AALAS at least 6 weeks prior to the start date of the National Meeting.

What do I need to bring with me on test day?
  1. Authorization to Test Letter (the original or the copy)
  2. Valid government-issued, photo- and signature-bearing ID (a driver’s license, a state or government issued ID, or a passport). The spelling of your name on your ID must match your Authorization to Test Letter.
    NO EXPIRED ID’s.
How do I find out if I passed or failed the exam?

Computer exam: You will receive a printout stating whether you passed or failed after completing the exam . Your official results will be mailed to you within 3 to 4 weeks.

Pencil-and-Paper exam: You will be notified by mail in in 4–6 weeks.

What percent score is needed to pass the LAT exam?
